Years of not logging has allowed  overgrowth and sickness 

Fact:  1985-1995, USFS received more than $12 million from Timber Sales in Catron County alone

Fact:  $3 million stayed in Catron County as Title I moneys for roads and schools

Fact:  USFS Timber Sales decreased in the 90's, due in (large, large) part by groups using the Endangered Species Act

Fact: Secure Rural School adopted in 2000,  Tax Dollars to replace Timber Sales in Forest Reserve Receipts

Fact: Catron County schools and roads are no longer supported by local timber industry as they once were

Why?

Opinion:  It's time for change

Since 1908, 25% of USFS timber sales were sent back to  counties as Forest Reserve Receipts to fund local schools and roads.
